Victoria Piekut, owner of Wight Elephant Boutique, was crowned Miss Pennsylvania USA 2020 Sunday evening in Johnstown.
Cheers rang out, confetti flew and celebratory music blared as Piekut — a 23-year-old from Irwin — accepted the sash, the dazzling crown and a bouquet of flowers. Piekut, competed last year and fell short but came out with the crown after beating 35 other young women during this weekend’s competition.
The Miss Pennsylvania USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of Pennsylvania in the Miss USA pageant. Piekut will go on to compete for Miss USA in the Spring. If she manages to win the national pageant, she will have earned the right to represent the United States in Miss Universe 2019.
“This is absolutely insane I can’t believe this is real,” said Piekut, moments after she won. This is something I’ve dreamed of my entire life. I’ve watched Miss USA and came to Miss Pennsylvania USA since I was a little girl. I’ve watched so many womens’ lives change and dreams come true. I can’t believe this is my life now and this is actually happening.”
Piekut, opened her second location of the Wight Elephant Boutique in Greensburg at 136 South Pennsylvania Avenue in October to much excitement in the community. The Wight Elephant Boutique’s first storefront in Irwin, opened in 2018 after being an exclusively online boutique since 2016.
Victoria was the 2017 National American Miss Pennsylvania who won the National Talent Title and placed 2nd Runner Up to the overall National Miss title. She has also earned the title of 2015 International Junior Miss Teen, as well as the 2015 International Junior Miss Teen Talent title for singing opera. Victoria has also held the 2015 International Junior Miss Pennsylvania Teen and 2014 National American Miss Pennsylvania Teen titles.
