What’s happening this week in Greensburg, March 20-26

This week presents the Greensburg community with a ton of events and activities! There’s several opportunities to get creative, moments to test your knowledge, chances to shop and more. See the full list down below. 

Monday, March 20

Pet Photos with the Easter Bunny at Westmoreland Mall

Visits are free and photo packages are available for purchase. Walk-ins are welcome, though reservations are recommended. Pets must be on a leash or in a carrier, and pet owners are responsible for cleaning up after them. Pets will not be allowed in any area of the mall other than the designated Easter Bunny photo area. Additional dates include: March 27 and April 3 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Learn more.

Drawing Dynamics with Joe Schildkamp

This class starts with an intro/review of basic drawing approaches. The application of various marking techniques that imply texture and decorative pattern, and the use of value contrast to imply form and space will be explored and practiced. Pastels with Cindy Berceli

Be prepared to get a little dusty and have a lot of fun at the Greensburg Art Center! Bring whatever you have, sharpener, kneaded eraser, wet wipes, paper towels. Clay Class – Beginner Wheel Throwing

Beginners will be introduced to wheel throwing and hand building. Learn techniques such as wedging, making a cylinder and attaching handles. Additional techniques such as pinch pots, coiling, slab techniques and more will be explored. This class is designed for those with no prior experience or as a refresher. This a full body listening experience through intentional sound vibrations from crystal quartz sound bowls. Offering a therapeutic and restorative process to nurture the mind and body. Oil Painting with Jackie Moreno 

Explore techniques with an emphasis on Grisaille at the Greensburg Art Center. The classes take place every Tuesday at 1:30 p.m from March 14 to May 2. Museum Tours with Maureen Kochanek

Monotype Sampler with Eileen Yeager 

If you like trying new techniques, this is your class. Monotypes are one-of-a-kind prints using nature, leaves, flowers, objects, etc. Classes run every Tuesday until April 11 at 1 p.m. Cost is $65 including all materials and tools. Aroma Acupoint Therapy & Restorative Yoga

Aroma Acupoint Therapy, or AAT, is a gentle, and profoundly effective treatment that utilizes the energetic potential locked within pure essential oils. A selection of oils are applied to specific acupoints.This event will be a relaxing and wonderful pairing of restorative yoga postures with AAT. Cost is $35 and class starts at 6:30 p.m. Learn more.

This class will introduce you to the fundamentals of designing in a linear perspective. After the principles of 1 pt, 2 pt, and 3 pt perspective have been presented, its creative application in various subject matter will be explored. Takes place every Wednesday until April 12 starting at 4:30 p.m. Bring a straight edge (ruler) and triangle to the first class and then other materials will be discussed. This open studio at the Greensburg Art Center is perfect for experienced artists as well as beginner painters – all are welcome. Bring your favorite medium to paint the weekly theme or your own. Instruction is for intermediate oil painters. References will include still life subjects, photography and plein air. Emo Music Trivia at Invisible Man Brewing

Observational Portraits with Thomas Tholen

Pinkalicious the Musical at The Greensburg Garden & Civic Center

Based on the popular book by Victoria Kann and Elizabeth Kann, this is the tale of Pinkalicious, who can’t stop eating pink cupcakes despite warnings from her parents. Her pink indulgence lands her at the doctor’s office with Pinkititis, an affliction that turns her pink from head to toe. There are three chances to see the show: March 24 at 7 p.m.; and March 25 at 1 p.m and 4 p.m. There’s also a chance to attend a special tea party before the 1 p.m. show.
