What’s happening this week in Greensburg, April 10-16!

Greensburg events are in full swing this week! Read through the lineup below and get to planning. As always, there’s something for everyone. 

Monday, April 10

Drawing Dynamics with Joe Schildkamp

This class starts with an intro/review of basic drawing approaches. The application of various marking techniques that imply texture and decorative pattern, and the use of value contrast to imply form and space will be explored and practiced. Clay Class – Beginner Wheel Throwing

Beginners will be introduced to wheel throwing and hand building. Learn techniques such as wedging, making a cylinder and attaching handles. Be prepared to get a little dusty and have a lot of fun at the Greensburg Art Center! Bring whatever you have, sharpener, kneaded eraser, wet wipes, paper towels. Oil Painting with Jackie Moreno 

Explore techniques with an emphasis on Grisaille at the Greensburg Art Center. The classes take place every Tuesday at 1:30 p.m from March 14 to May 2. If you like trying new techniques, this is your class. Museum Open House

The Greensburg Volunteer Fire Department Museum invites you to its free open house! The museum has preserved the history of firefighting and has displays that will excite the interest of not just firefighters, but also those interested in the history of our community. They occur the second Tuesday of every month from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and the fourth Saturday of every month from 9 a.m. to noon. Learn more.

This class will introduce you to the fundamentals of designing in a linear perspective. After the principles of 1 pt, 2 pt, and 3 pt perspective have been presented, its creative application in various subject matter will be explored. Theologian Dr. M. Shawn Copeland, from the Department of Theology and the Program in African and African Diaspora Studies at Boston College, will present “The Uncommon Faithfulness of Henriette Delille” at Seton Hill University. Art on Tap 2.0: Garden Party

April showers are sure to bring May flowers! Kick back with picnic-inspired light bites, a mimosa bar and a flower-themed scavenger hunt at The Westmoreland. Partake in a friendly lawn game and even plant your own flower to take home. There will also be a live performance from Jordan Schulz Music. Clay Class – Beginner Wheel Throwing

Grand Opening of Westmoreland 250 Exhibit

Join Historic Hanna’s Town for its grand opening of its new exhibit: “Westmoreland 250! Telling our Story with 25 Objects.” Starting at 10:30 a.m., enjoy light refreshments while viewing 25 artifacts from across the county to highlight 250 years of history.
