Chess Club (ages 8 years through adults)

Everyone ages 8 and older who loves chess is invited to the Katie Room in the Greensburg Hempfield Area Library from 6-7PM. Spring Open House: National Day For Choice

Are you aware of all of the activities that go on in the Westmoreland County Blind Association building on South Main Street? We guarantee that if you have not toured our facility, you are missing out on many of our services. You can benefit while helping to support your community as we employ many blind, visually-impaired, intellectually & physically challenged. Chakra Balancing Workshop

Join Registered Yoga Trainers and Reiki Practitioners, Sarah Lawrence and Aubrey Worek, for an energy clearing workshop at FitnessEnvi from 6:30-8PM! Spring is a time for clearing out all the things that no longer serve us. It is vital to release any negative energy that we may have stored in our bodies all winter long. In this 90-minute workshop you will learn how to rid yourself daily of negative energy through experiencing creative yogic sequences and by using a gem stone pendulum that is yours to keep! Cost is $39 per person.

This art exhibit is in partnership with the Greensburg Art Center. The artist’s work be hung on April 16th and will run until May 29th. There will be a reception on Friday, May 3rd from 6:00 and 8:00. No registration is needed and all are welcome!

Cooks and Books

Create a Resumé

Do you need help creating your resume? At the YWCA from 6-9PM on April 17 and 24, help is available! Resumes have changed from years ago and they need to be in several different formats. In this class, you will create your resume and a cover letter and save them in different formats. Upon completion of this class, you will have a resumé that can be emailed, uploaded or copy and pasted on a website, and mailed via USPS. We will provide a form for an outline of your employment history. You will be required to bring that completed form to the first class. Prerequisite: Basic computer skills and the Internet. Registration is required. Call 724-834-9390.

Poetry Reading with Jacob Bacharach

Celebrate National Poetry Month at the Westmoreland Museum of American Art from 6-7PM with a reading of Jacob Bacharach’s poem, Ohr Ein Sof–Light Without End. Jacob’s poem is the current literary work featured on artist Janet Zweig’s Analog Scroll on the N. Main Street bridge. Register here for free.

Twigs and Sprigs Workshop with Suzanne Panchura

Create a tiny Faerie landscape/ vignette inside an 8″ clay planter saucer. A 2″ clay pot,twigs, pebbles and other natural elements will be available. You can paint planter or embellish it.  You may create tiny fences, furniture, doors etc. All materials included plus one miniature figure to place in the vignette. Classical Encounters

This music appreciation mini-course, offered in four class sessions, is designed to explore four basic periods of music – Baroque, Classical, Romantic and 20th Century. Emphasis is placed on recognizing the various styles and learning terminologies that improve one’s knowledge and appreciation for what is happening in the music. These sessions are ideal for people who wish to sharpen their listening skills. The class is led by Morrie Brand, WSO Academy of Music Director, and a former professional musician, composer, college music instructor and was Managing Director of the WSO for 17 years. No fee but registration is required to morrie@westmorelandsymphony.org

Voice & Piano Recital

Join us at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg from 7:30-9PM for a recital of voice and piano skills form the students of Cynthia Ortiz & Matt Klumpp. Students have practiced and taken classes as well as individualized lessons to hone their musical abilities for this, so come and support the young aspiring musicians of our community.

Saturday, April 20

Flat Tire Co. Spring Jam

Following our successful first jam in the fall, we are excited to get back out there this spring! Starting at Flat Tire Co. Bike Shop at 9AM, join us for free demo bikes for free all day and a full day of riding events, including: GROUP ROAD RIDE: 9am, casual pace, no drop. We will do the Mt. Pleasant loop, not a lot of climbing, fairly rural route, 30 mile ride. Relaxed pace, just to encourage getting together. Will try to dig up an old ride rip off of strava to share the route. KIDS RIDE/FAMILY RIDE: 2pm, all ages welcome. We will ride from the shop at 2pm up to the Five Star Trail. We will go as far as the group deems appropriate. PARKING LOT RACES: 6pm, be there, be square, check in starting at 530pm. Registration is $1, winner takes all. Skills and speed are the bottom line. There will be a short track obstacle course.

Greensburg Egg Hunt

The annual Greensburg Egg Hunt is April 20th at St. Clair park. Age appropriate egg hunts start at 11 am. Register today and then invite someone to join us! www.greensburgegghunt.com

Easter Egg Hunt

Join us at Keystone State Park for a friendly, fun Easter Egg Hunt! Registration begins at 10AM and the Hunt begins at 11AM.  Children ages 1-10 welcome; cost is $5 per child or $10 per family.
