The Venue, Greensburg’s newest fine dining experience to open Friday

A new spot for seafood and fine dining is coming to South Pennsylvania Avenue when The Venue opens on Friday, December 20.

Greensburg’s newest fine dining experience will bring fresh seafood, including lobster, crab legs, salmon and oysters. The Venue, located at 113 South Pennsylvania Avenue, will open this Friday for dinner and will begin taking table reservations on Tuesday after 2pm for their opening weekend.

The building, built in 1903, formerly held One Eleven restaurant for many years before closing in 2016. New owner, Mike Villi, renovated the space over the last few months, including installing a brand new kitchen for the restaurant. Though originally the project was going to be a 3 story restaurant and event space, they focused on getting the first floor open before deciding what to do with the other 2 floors. One of many projects happening on S. PA Ave, The Venue will bring back the fine dining that has been missing on the street since One Eleven closed.

With their tagline being ‘Where the sea reaches your table,’ their focus is heavily on fresh seafood but have multiple other non seafood dishes on the menu. There’s a little bit of something for everyone including house made fresh pasta, aged steaks and deserts. Their full menu will be listed on their website when it launches on Tuesday.

The Venue held a soft opening over the weekend for family and friends to try some of the new dishes that will be on the menu. Guests enjoyed wine, lobster, crab cakes and salmon along with house made bread and deserts. With a attention to detail and service, this new spot will be a welcome addition to the other wonderful restaurants in Greensburg.

Villi has been in business for himself all of his life and at least 20 years in Greensburg. He owns Norwin Messenger Service in North Huntingdon along with multiple commercial properties, many of which he has renovated. Though opening a restaurant is a new realm for him, he has brought the right people to bring it together.

“It’s been a long process,” said Villi, “But we’re excited to bring this concept to Greensburg and offer something that isn’t currently available.”

The Venue opens for business to the public on Friday, December 20 and will start out just serving dinner after 4pm. In the future they plan to expand hours. Please give them a like on their Facebook page and a follow on their Instagram.
