Scooby’s to host showcase during weekly open jam

Scooby’s Pub will be hosting a special showcase Sunday, January 27 at 7pm during their weekly open jam.

Scooby’s has been hosting weekly open jam music events for the last 20 years. The last 3, they’ve had the same line up with Duquesne Slag. After recognizing some great talent in the Greensburg area they’ve decided to have a special showcase with local ladies up front. Victoria Bittner, Aubrey Burchell, Lacy May and Ellie Oldfield will each perform a set with their bands before the jam is opened to any other performers.

Victoria Bittner

Victoria has been the lead singer of the house band, Duquesne Slag for Jam Night for awhile and sings at the weekly open jam. One of her favorite songs to perform is Zombie by the Cranberries. It’s one of the first songs she ever sang with a live band, and it means a lot to her and will be included in her set.

Bittner has been a performer since she was young, she started dance lessons at 2 years old and continued to grow into other forms of performance since then. She got the singing bug her freshman year of high school at Norwin when she was cast in the Wizard of Oz.

Though Bittner has not performed with any of these ladies before she’s excited to be sharing the stage with them.

“It’s refreshing to be apart of an ALL “Ladies Up Front” showcase” she said.

Aubrey Burchell

Aubrey has been a regular performer at Scooby’s and absolutely loves the environment and it’s supportive people. She’s performed with her dad all over the area and was a contestant on American Idol in 2018.

Burchell plans on singing songs by Janis Joplin, Alicia Keys, Amy Winehouse, Miranda Lambert during her set in the showcase.

“I know all of these talented ladies, and am ecstatic to be sharing a night with them,” Burchell said.

Lacy May

Lacy and her band Musket Luck, who’ve been together for about two months, have performed at Scooby’s jam night previously, and love the musically diverse, welcoming crowd. They plan on including “Bluebird Wine” by Rodney Crowell, Iris Dement’s, “Let the Mystery Be,” and several originals in their set.

May and her band members have been performing as solo acts for years. Adam, her brother and May decided to collaborate when she moved home from Nashville, and they then got Adam’s best friend, Ben, on board. They love to work with like-minded, talented musicians and are excited to be included in the showcase. It’s been amazing getting to work with such like-minded, talented musicians. We are very excited for the showcase, and are glad to be included.

May has spent the past four years performing at Nashville songwriter venues such as Puckett’s, Bobby’s Idle Hour, Whiskey Rhythm Saloon, Douglas Corner, etc. Since the band was formed they’ve been hitting up Speal’s Tavern, Mr. Toad’s, and Scooby’s, but will soon be branching out to other venues.

Ellie Oldfield

Ellie Oldfield has played many times at Scooby’s open jam nights and plan to play an eclectic mix of music during their set. Rhiannon by Fleetwood Mac, Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes, Before He Cheats by Carrie Underwood and some original music will be included.

Oldfield has been preforming as a solo act for 4 years and as a duo for about 1.5 years. Her duo act, Same Moon, preforms all around Westmoreland County and in the last year they played from Ohio to Delaware.

“I’m very excited to be apart of this event, with all these wonderful ladies,” Oldfield said.
