Rainy Day Activities for Kids in Greensburg

Westmoreland Museum of Art

Spending a rainy day and in an art museum sounds like the start of a movie! This rainy day activity can be educational while staying dry. Adventure to the Museum’s website and check out their list of current and upcoming exhibitions for a go-to rainy day activity for any time of the year! They now have a Center for Creative Connections, a hands-on activity center for all ages, bringing the art on display to life! Current activities offered in the Center include: an opportunity to create landscape layouts to explore how areas within southwestern Pennsylvania developed, a build-a-bridge activity that challenges you to build some of Pittsburgh’s common bridge styles, and a stop-motion animation activity that allows artwork come alive by animating a selection of backgrounds and characters from the paintings. There’s even a large drawing glass that encourages all who use it to be an artist and create fun, full-length portraits of your friends and family. They just recently installed sensory windows with sea scenes in the Center as well.

Seabase Family Fun Center

For the Nancy Drew or Hardy Boys fans of the family, they will love trying to find the hidden clues in order to escape within the time frame! Children of the age of 10 and older are able to perform very well in the escape rooms, but if you plan on bringing children younger than 10, they request that you book a private game session.
