While non-essential businesses in Pa. are still shut down until further notice due to the novel corona virus, one owner of a business is making a difference.
Christian Simmons owner of Pennsylvania Libations, a local liquor store that only sells Pa. spirits located in the Strip District, isn’t letting any current situation stop him from supporting the local community.
“Never has there been a time to support local businesses. If you can’t financially, support them in letting friends and family know that there are local restaurants and breweries, wineries, distilleries working to offer curbside and delivery,” Simmons said.
As of Mar. 21, Pennsylvania Libations is now offering online orders available for curbside pickup and home deliveries in Westmoreland and Allegheny Counties.
Simmons took to Facebook Mar. 24, “The fine people of Westmoreland County have spoke. Pennsylvania Libations Spirits is now delivering in your county!”
Pennsylvania Libations offers spirits from 17 different PA distilleries. The idea is very simple and quite innovative. Customers order online and whatever they have purchased arrives with next day delivery. Customers also must have a valid ID upon delivery. Allegheny ($10) and Westmoreland ($15) counties delivery fee with a $50 minimum purchase.
There’s no catch, just one business owner who is trying to support his community.
“With my home town of Ligonier as well as a homeowner in Latrobe for 10 years. I felt I’d have a good support system there. My company also got a lot of requests as well. It was a combination of my roots and the demand,“ Simmons said.
Local PA spirits aren’t the only thing Simmons is looking to add. Even with a vast majority of businesses and distilleries shut down for the time being, Simmons is looking to add more variety for his online customers with a very fast turnaround.
“I owe the fast turnaround and constant maintenance of my e-commerce to Elle Speicher of Smartsite Strategies. Elle is currently working on adding wine to the website so we can deliver both wine and spirits in very soon time,” Simmons said.
Located in the Strip District of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Libations offers everything from wine, spirits, ciders, mead and beer. The business started as a broker company with one distillery which turned into a sales and representation company with a retail location.
Unless, you got the chance to hit up the liquor store before shut down, you may have been out of luck until now! Just get it delivered to your door!
