About the Owner
The founder of Mad Scientist Beer, former “mad” scientist Mindy Charley moved to Greensburg from York county PA 10 years ago. She worked in her former profession doing DNA forensics for eight years before having her daughter. Mindy took a one-year hiatus in order to be with her newborn girl, but quickly realized she wanted to go back to work. Thats when she called on her husband Tom and brother-in-law Mike to assist her in in beginning a new venture that would become Mad Scientist Beer.
Craft Beer Meet-ups
Mindy created the Greensburg craft beer meet-up group in the summer of 2021 as pandemic restrictions were lifted in order to bring business and awareness to local breweries and establishments. It costs just $15 dollars annually to become a member and events are held once a month, usually on a Wednesday. At past events vendors have even come and provided members with special tastings.
When asked to describe the purpose of the group, Mindy said that “It’s a platform to connect people with similar interests, in this case trying new brews and socializing”. The group provides like minded people with an opportunity to network while unwinding and enjoying some of the best beer brewed in and around Greensburg.
Past event locations include Unity Brewing and Coal County Brewing in Ebensburg.
