Greensburg’s Annual Restaurant Week kicks off Monday

Are you craving short rib, maybe some filet mignon? How about some lobster or pulled pork tacos? Sounds delectable. All finished off with homemade apple dumplings paired with vanilla bean ice cream or a delicious banana parfait.

These are just a handful of the many entrée and dessert menu items featured during Greensburg Restaurant Week. The week-long event located in the Greensburg area kicks off Monday Jan. 27, 2020 and runs through Feb. 2nd. During the event the week will feature 18 local restaurants that will be participating in the seven-day event. Each of the restaurants are offering pre-selected menus with special pricing $35 or less.

Greensburg Restaurant Week originally began in August of 2019 with restaurants offering three course meals for $30 or less. This year they’ve upped the cost maximum to $35, which is the same as Pittsburgh’s restaurant week, held just a couple of weeks ago. Fun fact, the producer of Pittsburgh Restaurant Week owns and runs a successful business here in Greensburg. Most restaurants for this run of Greensburg Restaurant Week fall under $35, with many coming in under $30 for their three course meals. There are new restaurants added to the list, some outside of the City of Greensburg, like The Lamplighter in Delmont and Chef Dato in Latrobe.

The restaurant week event gives the community a chance to check out restaurants they have never been to. Each local restaurant included has a special offer with reduced prices or a special menu with a fixed priced. The menus usually include a variety of options from a three-course meal; starting with an appetizer, entrée, and dessert options. The options range from lunch to fine dining.

Greensburg Restaurant Week, produced by Think Greensburg (Greensburg Community Development Corporation,) was inspired by the simple idea of bringing the community and local restaurants together, to highlight the diverse dining options within the community, promote and grow small businesses in the area, and create repeat customers.
