Splash, flash and dash at the Greensburg YMCA’s inaugural indoor triathlon Saturday, March 30.
The race welcomes participants of all ages and skill levels including the young and young at heart. Racers will jump in the pool for a 400 yard swim followed by a 9 mile bike and a 2 mile run/walk to the finish! Heats for racers will be assigned before the start of the race.
“We want this to be a fun, annual event, where competitors of any skill level can compete together,” said Shawn Rause, Director of Sports & Wellness at the Greensburg YMCA. “With one week remaining before the triathlon, we are at 30 participants. We expect to get another 10-15 registrations before the event on Saturday.”
The Greensburg YMCA has been increasing their events and will be hosting a Healthy Kids Day on April 26 that is free and open to the public. They are encouraging the community to come out and enjoy local vendors, and special activities from each of their YMCA Departments to improve the health and well-being of our kids! They also plan to have the Kinderhook Mile again this June after bringing it back last year after a 15 year hiatus.
“After hosting a successful Kinderhook Mile in June of 2018, we wanted to offer a few more annual races for our membership and community, in the form of the indoor triathlon in March, and continuing the Kinderhook in June each year,” said Rause.
The Greensburg YMCA Indoor Triathlon begins at 8 a.m. on March 30. Cost to participate is $40-$45 per person. Register at greensburgymca.org, stop into the YMCA or contact Shawn Rause for info at 724-834-0150 x113.
