To accommodate the growing health and wellness trends in the Greensburg area, the Greensburg YMCA is expanding its wellness programming and adding several new opportunities, beginning in October.
Starting Oct. 9, the Y is offering new personal training services. The service will be offered in private (1:1), semi-private (2:1) and group (3:1) sessions. There are discounted pricing for members and also discounted four-session packages for both members and non-members. Individuals can register online for these services at www.greensburgymca.org.
In addition to the personal training services, new Pilates classes will be offered two days a week, from noon-1 p.m., beginning Oct. 16. Chair Pilates will be held Mondays, and a mat Pilates session will be Wednesdays.
Pilates is a mind, body discipline with emphasis on alignment, breathing, flexibility and developing a strong core. It also helps with balance and coordination. The first two weeks of each class will focus on the principles of Pilates. The classes—as are all of the Greensburg Y’s GroupEx classes—are free for members and $5 for non-members. There is no registration required for the Pilates classes.
“There is such a strong interest across the country in health and wellness and it is growing,” said Brenda Willett, the Greensburg Y’s Director of Sports and Wellness. “We want the Greensburg Y to be the place to go for health and wellness programming. We have an excellent facility and these programs will enhance our mission of putting Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirt, mind and body for all.”
October is the time to join the Greensburg Y during its Pay the Day membership promo. Prospective members will pay a reduced join fee based on the day they join. For instance, a new member joins on the first day of October, the join fee is $1, the 2nd…$2, etc.
