The Greensburg Volunteer Fire Department will host its Party in the Park community event on Saturday May 27 from 1-9 p.m. at St Clair Park.
The event will kick off with the Fire Fighter Battle of the Barell on Academy Hill followed by activities in St. Clair Park. Food trucks, vendors, face painting, a caricature artist, selfie station, basket raffle, 50/50s and more will be provided for guests all day, according to the Greensburg Volunteer Fire Department’s Facebook page. Different activities and entertainment will also take place at various times throughout the event.
Party in the Park will be open for free admission to the public in place of Greensburg Community Days this year.
“We did this because we felt that since the City is not able to put on Community Days due to the Nevin Arena Rink renovation, we wanted to keep that tradition going and have something from the Memorial Day weekend,” said Tom Bell, Greensburg Volunteer Fire Department Chief. “It won’t be as huge as Lynch Field but at least we can keep the tradition of a community event happening over memorial day weekend.”
From 2-5 p.m., guests will have the opportunity to dunk local fire officers and chiefs into a dunk tank. The dunk tank lineup includes Officer Paige Wallace, Chief Tom Bell, Officer Mattie May White, Chief Billy Wright and Chief Matt White.
Party in the Park will also have live music from local bands and artists, such as Walk of Shame, Amanda James and Andy Davis starting at 3 p.m.
Party in the Park will provide different activities designed for both adults and kids! For the adults, there will be an adult beverage arena with Engine 6 Beer Tent, Salem Spirits and Laurel Highlands Meadery. Kids will enjoy the kids carnival area from 1-5 p.m. with small carnival games and a candy table just for them.
Eight different food trucks will be set up throughout the park for guests to grab a snack or even a sweet treat. Food trucks include Delvecchio’s Sausage, Speals on Wheels, Miss Meatball, Bull River Taco Truck, Firehouse Subs, Lynn’s Franks, Kona Ice and Millie’s Ice Cream.
Party in the Park will also host a variety vendors for the community. These include GVFD Swag, Grace n’Mae Designs, Firmalicious Skin Delicious, Krafts By Kellieann, Vanko CBD, Soldier Boy Beef Jerkey, MZ Jones Curiousities, Pomaibo De-Signs, Cham’s Treats & Sweets, Witchcult Nail Lacquer, Elle Kaye Studios, Carly’s Cakery, Creatibility, Grossly Simplistic, Ross’s Sauces, Hawkin’s & Co.
