The 29th annual Greensburg Thanksgiving Turkey Trot is going virtual this year in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic!

The Greensburg Turkey Trot was started by five friends who ran together every day during their lunch breaks. They started a non-profit, Westmoreland Community Sharing, in order to develop the race, and now when you participate you’re supporting multiple Greensburg non-profits!

This year participants can complete the 5k anywhere, anytime between November 16 and November 26! Run at the gym, on the treadmill, in your neighborhood, or anywhere else you’d like! As always, everyone is welcome to participate, from the seasoned runner to the casual jogger.

General registration ends on November 9th. Upon registration, participants can choose between a cotton t-shirt and a moisture wicking shirt. Registration for kids under 13 starts at $15, and registration for adults starts at $25. If you forget to register before November 9th, no problem! Late registration is $35 and begins November 10. Anyone who registers late is guaranteed one of the cotton commemorative t-shirts. Register now.

Participants can self-time their race and submit their time if they wish for it to be featured on the site. There will not be any awards presented at this year’s Turkey Trot, but participants will receive a printable participation certificate, and the Trot will be sharing the times they receive for each category. Runners can also register with a group, though there will be no prizes for the team categories.

Don’t miss out on this classic Greensburg Thanksgiving tradition! Support the local community and take advantage of this amazing opportunity to get active! Tag any photos you take with #gbgturkeytrot.
