Greensburg Resident’s Original Music to be Featured in New Short Film

Greensburg resident’s original music to feature in Carnegie Museum Film Festival

A recent Greensburg transplant, independent musician and recording artist J. Trafford has partnered with Pittsburgh filmmaker Chris Mason in the creation of a new short film ‘Chaotic Chromatic’ around the song Trafford’s original song “MixedMedia.”

‘Chaotic Chromatic’ featuring the song “MixedMedia” has been chosen out of over 200 entries worldwide as an official selection of the Carnegie Museum of Art’s 2-Minute Film Festival.

Mason describes the film as “an experimental salute to early film pioneers. Utilizing footage from as early as 1888 to 1930, I have added experimental film elements to create an artistic presentation of early film, which was experimental by nature as a new visual format.”

“MixedMedia” was written and produced by J. Trafford for the Suavity’s Mouthpiece studio album The Nuance of Suavity’s Mouthpiece (2012, BWRecords, Pittsburgh). The track was released as a single with the non-album B-side “Pavarotti” in 2012. Music composed by Trafford has featured in official selections of the Action on Film International, Pittsburgh Independent, and Atlanta Film Festivals, as well as in Pittsburgh Fashion Week. He has produced and arranged music releases by multiple local artists.

The film’s premier at the Carnegie Museum of Art’s 2-Minute Film Festival takes place on July 9th, 2015 at the Museum’s outdoor Sculpture Court in Pittsburgh.
