Greensburg Craft Beer Week moves to June and adds beer festival

After 5 years, Greensburg Craft Beer Week is making some.changes and moving the 10 day celebration of craft beer and the greater Greensburg area to June 17-25.

Greensburg Craft Beer Week (GBGCBW) started in 2017 as a way to help promote the local breweries in the area as well as the bars, restaurants and businesses who host events throughout the week. This year, it was time for a change.

“After 5 years, I knew I wanted to revamp the week a little bit,” said Jessica Hickey, Founder of Greensburg Craft Beer Week. “Moving it to June allows our breweries to create summer beers for the week instead of fall beers and it also fosters some creativity for new events.”

One new event that will be happening this year is the Greensburg Craft Beer Festival which will be held on June 18. Hosted at St. Clair Park this ticketed event will allow attendees to taste beers from 20+ breweries, enjoy live music, yard games and will have a VIP hour with beer and light bite pairings at the start of the event. Tickets go on sale for the festival on April 9 on the Greensburg Craft Beer Week website.

“Hosting an actual beer festival has been in the plans since the first year of Greensburg Craft Beer Week,” said Hickey. “With moving the whole week to June it just made sense to do it this year.”

Home Brew + Chill, the home brew competition usually held during GBGCBW will stay in September as its own separate event. More information and home brewer sign ups will be released later this summer.

Planning is already under way for events and it is estimated that over 40 will be scheduled for the 10 days.

“There’s a lot of great events already in the works, including a block party, beer brunch, donut and beer pairing as well as special beer releases and collaboration beers,” said Hickey. “We’re really looking forward to some new events and having new breweries and businesses involved this year.”
