Art on Tap: Winter Lights

Join the Westmoreland Museum of Art  for their first ever Winter Lights! At 6:30pm, we will throw the switch on our winter lights display. Throughout the evening, enjoy a specialty hot chocolate and s’mores bar fire pit, an outdoor winter lounge, and an immersive light display that is sure to brighten your spirits! Cost: $10 members/$15 non-members (provides one drink and cash bar after)

Light Up Night at the Mall

Enjoy a performance from Stage Right! after the parade in Center Court. Then countdown with Santa for the holidays to officially begin and we light up the mall for the holiday season! Parade starts at Mall Entrance near Macy’s at 7pm. Santa is available for pictures immediately following the parade! The Hempfield High School Marching Band will lead Santa in a parade through the mall starting at 7pm!

Candle Light Open House 

The Westmoreland History Shop, newly reopened in the Westmoreland History Education Center, will offer holiday specials and tea. Enjoy wassail, savories, and candlelit ambiance in Hanna’s Tavern. FREE after-hours event at Historic Hanna’s Town to kick off the holiday season beginning at 4pm!

Family Fun Night at the YMCA 

Members and Fall 2 Program Participants are invited to share an evening with their immediate family doing fun activities here at the Y. We will have activities to do in the gym and pool and a craft, too! This event is intended to bring our families together for a time of fun and sharing. Family Fun Nights are free to members and Fall 2 Program Participants. $5 for Non-Members. (Restrictions Apply)

Bring your pets to Petagogy Greensburg on Saturday, November 9 for photos with Santa taken by expert local pet photographer Jessica Wasik of Bark & Gold Photography! Jessica will take a free digital photo of your pet(s) sitting with Santa and provide options for ordering prints, holiday cards and more!* Pets will be seen on a first come, first served basis and must be comfortable around other animals and people. A Night of the Music of Shiva Skydriver

Kelsey and Ed will be performing a night of their music, joined by their multi-instrumentalist friend, Clinton Van Gemert at Scooby’s Pub. For this performance, they will be reimagining songs from their first two albums, this year’s singles, and a handful of specially selected covers.

Children’s Saturday Studio: Hide & Seek Animal Art

How can you create camo for your favorite animal? That is what we will be doing in studio this month. We will explore texture, color, and pattern before creating our own camouflaged animal art. From October to May, Children’s Saturday Studio classes are offered once a month for children ages 7–10 and are taught by a professional art instructor. Each class features a fun art-related theme. Advanced registration is required. Cost: $15 members/$20 non-members

Tuesday, November 12

Harlem Wizards Vs. The Golden Lion All-Star

The world-famous Harlem Wizards will visit Greensburg Salem High School’s gym on Tuesday, November 12th at 7:00 p.m. for an evening of great fun and fundraising. The Wizards will play a game against a team of Greensburg Salem administrators, teachers and high school students who are excited to hit the court for a great cause. Proceeds will benefit the Interact Club, who will use the funds to support school, community, and worldwide causes. 

Greensburg YMCA Job Fair

The Greensburg Area YMCA will be hosting a Job Fair on Tuesday, November 12 in the Welcome Center (Lobby). A representative for the various departments for the Y will be present to answer questions about the available positions within the Greensburg Area YMCA. We have something for everyone!

Presented by Casey Droege Cultural Productions SIX x ATE (“six by ate”) invites you to enjoy five-minute presentations from seven artists and a meal from one cuisinier. There are no formal Q & A’s or long-winded introductions, so guests spend most of the evening talking informally while eating and drinking. This relaxed environment encourages real connections, spurring future collaborations and forging new friendships.

Flat Tire Pantry Pedal 

This is a charity event that is part bike ride and part food drive. Participants are asked to bring non-perishable food items that will be donated to the Westmoreland Food Bank. The ride will last an hour. All types of bicycles welcome, the route will be through the local neighborhood. Pizza and beverages at the shop after!

City of Greensburg Developers Conference

Youth Symphony Orchestra Fall Concert 

Join the young musicians of the WYSO Youth Orchestra program for a free concert at Seton Hill Performing Arts Center. The WYSO Philharmonic (high school) opens with two works from the classical period – Mozart’s Overture to the Marriage of Figaro and the first movement of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7.

Hats and Gloves with Love 

Once again, Feeding the Spirit is partnering with Westmoreland Community Action to kick off Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week with our annual hats, scarves and gloves drive. Between now and November 12th, donations can be dropped off at DV8 Espresso Bar and Gallery M-F between 8 AM and 3 PM or Saturdays between 9 AM and Noon. During the week leading up to the event, commencing November 12th, last minute donations can be dropped off directly at Westmoreland Community Action at 226 South Maple Avenue in Greensburg between 9 AM and 3 PM.

Assembly and organization of the bags will commence promptly at 10 AM on November 17th, and we will start moving the bags out into the community as soon as they are ready!!!

Pop-Up Studio: Swirls on Silk

Artist Sue Teems will share with us her process of marbling on fabric and paper. Each participant will complete a unique marbling design on a silk scarf to take home and enjoy. Pop-Up Studios give adults (ages 18 and above) the opportunity to get in touch with their inner artist. Each class explores different techniques and media. No previous art experience is needed. Disney’s Newsies!

Set in turn-of-the-century New York City, Newsies is the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a band of teenaged “newsies.” When titans of publishing raise distribution prices at the newsboys’ expense. Jack rallies newsies from across the city to strike against the unfair conditions and fight for what’s right! Based on the 1992 motion picture and inspired by a true story, Newsies features a Tony Award-winning score by Alan Menken (Little Shop of Horrors, Sister Act) and Jack Feldman and a book by Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein (Kinky Boots). Featuring the now classic songs “Carrying the Banner,” “Seize the Day,” and “Santa Fe,” Newsies is packed with non-stop thrills and a timeless message, perfect for the whole family and every audience. The City of Greensburg’s Holiday Parade is back for its 28th year! The Parade will be held on Saturday, November 23rd starting at 12pm. The Parade route begins at the Westmoreland Museum of American Art and ends at City Hall.
