12 Fun Kids Activities in Greensburg!

The cold and rainy weather can make kids antsy, not allowing them to get outside and release some of their energy. Need some help coming up with ideas to keep the kids entertained when Spring finally shows up? Check out some cool ideas for activities for kids in Greensburg below!

Get Active!

Swimming outside is the highlight of most kids’ summer. Just because the weather isn’t all that great doesn’t mean that swimming is out of the question! Stop by the YMCA of Greensburg for a chance to let them have a fun night swimming. They also offer swimming lessons if anyone is interested in getting their kids started!

Take a scenic bike ride along the Five Star Trail! Mom and Dad are bike less but the kids have them? No worries, swing by Flat Tire Co. Bike Shop only a few steps away from the trail to rent a bike and helmet! The shop also offer Family Ride Nights on Wednesdays, April 18-September 19. Meet at Lynch Field by 6pm to take a ride along the Historic Five Star Trail!

An inexpensive, yet fun idea fit for both kids and adults is bowling! Take a blast from the past and let loose in a few games of bowling at Main Bowling Center. Specials are offered Monday through Saturday at Main Bowling, from Dollar Night to Cosmic Bowling! What kid wouldn’t love to enjoy a fun night bowling?

Live out your super spy dreams in our laser maze room, try to find your child’s new hiding spot, ride down a slide, or obstacle to find in two huge play gyms, and play a tune in the musical area. Seabase is the indoor headquarters for family fun! They even have weekly playgrounds and rumor has it they’re thinking about adding a Summer Camp Program! SeaBase Family Fun Center is a must go to place for the kids! (We remember coming here as a kid and absolutely loving it!)

Are your kids interested in starting a sport? The YMCA of Greensburg also offers a variety of Youth Sports that may be pleasing! The sports range from cross country, junior pens floor hockey, indoor soccer, track & field, and spring soccer. What better way to get your kids acclimated to a sport?! Register online.

Bring Out Their Creative Side

Do your kids love to sing and dance? Stage Right in Greensburg would be perfect for them! They offer acting, singing, dancing, musical theatre, and preschool classes. Visit one of their upcoming shows to see what it’s all about!

The Greensburg Art Center would be a great place to take the kids for a fun day. You can plan your own class with your very own artist, at your requested time and day! Bring the kids and a few of their friends out and choose between a painting or clay workshop. Be sure to check out their calendar and see what events are happening soon!

Spend a day with your kids at the Westmoreland Museum of American Art in downtown Greensburg. The museum offers creative activities for people of all ages! Be sure to stop by The Center for Creative Connections in the museum for some fun, hands-on action for the kids, along with stopping by The Creation Station! The Creative Station changes frequently so there is always something new and fun. The Museum also offers studio art classes on Saturday mornings for children ages 7-9 & 10-13, along with summer art camps. Join your kids in on all of the fun!

Something fun for both parents and kids would be a day at Pottery Playhouse! Enjoy an artful experience where everything needed to create your masterpiece is supplied. They have a vast amount of pieces to choose from, ranging from dog bowls, bath decor, pictures frames, garden accessories and many more. Fun and Educational!

Attend one of the many events The Greensburg Hempfield Area Library puts on! From homeschool programs where they recently learned coding to crafting for anyone over 16 to children reading to therapy dogs, the Library has so many events, programs and activities for all ages! April is filled with story time, block parties and plenty of events for your little scientist during the Library’s science series! Grab your library card and check out what they have coming up next!

Have you heard all of the hype about Escape Rooms? 60 Minute Missions in Greensburg is interactive puzzle rooms where groups of friends, colleagues or family members are placed in a room and given a specific mission. They have 60 minutes to accomplish the mission by finding clues, solving puzzles and working together. During each mission, spend an hour as a real-life spy or secret agent in a special themed environment. Escape room experiences even leave you with the feeling like you’re in a character in a video game or an actor in a movie! Doesn’t that sound like a great time that your kids would enjoy?!
