From a Fun Hobby to Pittsburgh’s Partner of the Year 2018

Greensburg based company, Moxie Events, parent company to Moxie Photo Booth and PowerBomb Entertainment, recently received Visit Pittsburgh‘s Partner of the Year Award for their hard work, dedication and creating memorable experiences in Pittsburgh.

Visit Pittsburgh’s Destination Services Partner of the Year Award, recognizes individuals or organizations that have made an outstanding contribution to the success of the region’s convention and meetings industry. Moxie received this award for consistently creating memorable experiences through excellent customer service for meetings and events. Previous winners include Smallman Galley and the David L. Lawrence Convention Center.

“To be a smaller company and to receive to this level of recognition, it’s a big honor,” said Moxie Events owner, Adam DeFlorio. “Networking, meeting people, being friendly, offering services and helping the community has helped me get to where I am. This is hopefully an inspiration to someone that doesn’t have a big name or job that big things can happen and you can make a difference in your community and industry with a lot of drive and hard work.”

Moxie Events started in 2012 as a DJ company for private events, weddings and bars to create fun new ways to serve entertainment to their guests. In 2014, owner Adam DeFlorio acquired a small photo booth company, Moxie Photo Booth, and has expanded it into a well sought after entertainment business that has spanned across the country.

“It started out as a hobby, being a game show and team trivia host,” said DeFlorio. “Now we’ve grown to multiple DJs, 10 photo booth stations, working with a variety of agencies and we’re changing the photo booth game in our area. Not only that but we’ve provided entertainment from Disney to New York, and came up with unique, fresh ideas for events from Seattle to LA to Miami.”

Last year, Moxie provided entertainment for over 375 different events, ranging from fundraisers, to galas, work parties, conferences, conventions, concerts, parades, and festivals. Moxie believes that hiring a DJ or having a photo booth at an event is about class, promotion and bringing a different experience to guests. They strive to bring a new photo booth experience to events by having GIF, boomerang and social media options along with the tradition printouts that they custom design for each event. Moxie has worked with a lot of companies, foundations and dignitaries including: AT&T, American Eagle Outfitters, Pittsburgh Penguins, Pittsburgh Steelers, the President of South Korea, Prime Minister of Canada, and the American Heart Association.

Visit Pittsburgh’s Partner of the Year isn’t their only accolade, they’ve won WeddingWire’s Couple’s Choice Award for the 5th year, the Knot’s Best of Weddings for the 3rd year in a row and most recently the Pittsburgh’s Business Choice Award for Corporate Entertainment.

Owner, Adam DeFlorio

Moxie Event’s owner, Adam DeFlorio was also inducted to the 2018 Pittsburgh’s 50 Finest class, an elite group of the area’s most accomplished and eligible men and women. Each year, 25 men and 25 women who best represent the now and the future of Pittsburgh are recognized for their professional accomplishments and their commitment to giving back. These honorees commit to raising much-needed funds and awareness for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the world’s leader in the search for a cure for cystic fibrosis (CF). All proceeds raised by Pittsburgh’s 50 Finest help to support vital CF research, as well as medical and educational programs.

“It is a tremendous honor, a small Hecla boy owning a small entertainment company, to be recognized amongst, who I feel, Pittsburgh’s best, passionate, and dedicated individuals in their respective careers,” said DeFlorio. “What a cool feeling to know that my Moxie Events business can help everyone in my class by offering a fun entertainment service with our Selfie Stations because they will provide direct access to their donation page at their fundraising event for everyone there on their phones.”

The first in his class to host an event, DeFlorio raised $3000 during the annual Ash Club St. Patty’s Day Bar Crawl by selling raffle tickets to each team for a chance to win gift cards and concert tickets that were donated by local businesses. His Selfie Station, an all digital and social media based photo booth, was capturing the whole night, allowing attendees to take fun photos, GIFs and boomerangs with their friends.

Pittsburgh’s 50 Finest aims to raise over $500,000 by the end of the fundraising period for the 2018 class. Deflorio has set his personal goal at $10,000 and hopes to exceed even that. To help Adam reach his goal and donate to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, please click the button below.
