THURSDAY, JULY 4

45th Westmoreland Arts & Heritage Festival

Beginning at 11am-6pm! Join the fun from July 4 to July 7, as 2019 marks the 45th year of the Westmoreland Arts & Heritage Festival! Bring your family, bring your friends, bring everyone you know and spend the day dancing to live music, eating tons of great ethnic foods, and shopping your time away at the fabulous Artist Market.

Hanna’s Town Independence Celebration 

Celebrate America’s birthday at a Revolutionary War settlement! Discover how western Pennsylvania participated in important events before, during, and after the war that created the United States of America. Join the fun for a tour of Historic Hanna’s Town, activities for children, and a special reading of the Declaration of Independence! Free admission starting at 11:00am – 4:00pm!

Freedom 5K Race

Run or Walk the Freedom 5K race at Lynch field! Race begins at 8:30am-9:30am! Proceeds benefit the American Heart Association! Registration ends on July 2 hurry and sign up today!

FRIDAY, JULY 5

Parking Lot Party

Mark your calendar for Friday July 5 starting at 12pm-5pm The Pawn and Jewelry Exchange will be having an entire store sale! There will also be prizes, lots of food and drinks provided by Pineapple Grill Catering!

Swift Technique at SummerSounds

SummerSounds free Friday night concerts at St. Clair Park. Swift Technique, Philadelphia’s fiery funk extravaganza, is sprinting into its tenth year at full speed! The band’s unique blend of funk, soul, rock, hip-hop and relentless showmanship has propelled the group into their most successful period to date.

Spark In da Pan (steel drum group)

Join the fun at 7pm at All Saints Brewing Company! This Spark in da Pan steel drum group is dedicated to spreading the sounds of the islands throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. Plus some low and slow custom BBQ from Pittsburgh Smokehouse.

Sunday, July 7

Community Day: American Independence

Celebrate America’s Independence with blacksmithing demonstrations, art activities, music, and historical tours. You can even meet some historical figures while you are at it! Watch The Barefoot Forge hammer some hot steel during blacksmithing demonstrations. Be transported to the 18th century with music by Wayward Companions. Experience 18th century reenactments from Proctor’s Militia. Eat some delicious treats from Happy Camper Cakes. All hosted at The Westmoreland Museum of American Art.

4th of July Sunday Funday

The summer fun continues with B&B Acoustic Live on the patio at Bar Nine to celebrate this great country’s birthday!!! The party kicks off at 2:00PM. Great food and great music with us and Corona Light!

MONDAY , JULY 8

Art Camp: E-Art

This week from July 8 – July 12 we will use the earth as our subject. Campers will be using natural and recycled materials to create works of art inspired from our planet Earth. Projects will include painting, drawing, and sculpture. All artwork will be proudly displayed in an exhibit at the end of camp! For children 7-9 years old, $135 members/$155 non-members Register Today!

Summer Camp: Little Patriots 

Through Monday, July 8- Friday, July 12 Campers ages 6-8 discover early American history through the day-to-day lives of people in Hanna’s Town in the time of the American Revolution. Camp activities includes: a variety of educational hands-on activities within one designated week, a camp T-shirt, one lunch cooked at Hanna’s Town, and a social for families after camp on Friday!

Aviation Now and the Future of Space

This program at the Greensburg Hempfield Area Library, presented by Robert Allison, will discuss the Wright Brothers, dreams of going to the moon, the first moon landing, the future of space, and much more! Wednesday, July 10

The Cheeseburger Ride

Join Flat Tire Co Bike Shop for a family friendly, and fun for all ages bike ride! Join the crew for a jaunt around town followed by the famous $5 cheeseburger at Dagwood’s. Expect a casual pace involving riding through the neighborhoods and local trail. All ages welcome.

TGIS – Free Outdoor Concert Series

While supporting local talent, patrons can enjoy a summer of live music for FREE every Thursday evening! This thursday Bad Boy Blues Band (rock & blues) will be performing at 4:30! Food will be Elegant Catering

Antiques and Collectables Market

Browse for bargains, enjoy a variety of food booths, and support local history preservation. Proceeds from this event have been vital for the re-creation of Historic Hanna’s Town. The quaint and historic setting will host over 100 vendors offering a variety of one-of-a-kind items covering a wide price range. This event will be held rain or shine beginning at 8:00am! 

Wednesday, July 17

Pop-Up Studio: Psychedelic 2D Wax Painting

Using wax and basic hand tools, you will transform psychedelic designs into colorful and unique 2D creations on Yupo paper. Pop-Up Studios at The Westmoreland Museum of American Art, give adults (ages 18 and above) the opportunity to get in touch with their inner artist. Each class explores different techniques and media. No previous art experience is needed. Wine, beer, snacks and materials will be provided. Advance registration is required. Cost: $20 members/ $25 non-members. The 20th annual Five Star Trail Poker Run

The Westmoreland Heritage Trail Chapter has partnered again with the Five Star Trail Chapter to put on the Poker Run, and all proceeds from this event will benefit the two trail chapters. Participants can choose which trail group they would like their entry fees to be credited towards. Registration begins at 8am with the start of the race to follow at 9am!

Art Camp: Make Pop Art

Art campers will explore influential styles of some of the American modern art masters and tour The Westmoreland’s exhibit The Era of Cool: Pop artist John Van Hamersveld. Campers will develop and create their own works of modern and graphic art using a variety of materials and techniques including painting and printmaking followed by their own exhibit the last day of camp. Flat Tire Co. Kids Camp

The Flat Tire Co. staff is excited to offer their first children’s program in July of 2019. This is a three day camp starting Friday July 26- Sunday July 28! The camp is focused on helping increase kids confidence, skills, and love for riding mountain bikes! Parents are welcome to join in on our weekend adventure, let us know if you are interested! $350 per camper, with discounts on siblings!
