Cattfeinated Cat Cafe, Westmoreland County’s first cat cafe opened November 18 on East Otterman St!
Located at 159 East Otterman Street, the cafe is a fun, unique, relaxing spot for humans, while finding loving homes for Westmoreland County’s at-risk cats. Owners Katelynn and Rob Jones are combing their love of coffee and cats by featuring tasty treats and adoptable felines through Wayward Animal Rescue – Greensburg, PA!
Cattfeinated Cat Cafe will offer a variety of coffee and tea locally roasted by Nicholas Coffee out of Pittsburgh in Kitten (12 oz), Queen (16oz) or Tom (20oz) sizes. They will also have delicious baked goods from Peinetti’s Bakery, who you may know from the Greensburg Night Markets.
The main areas of the cafe are open to anyone who would like to enjoy a cup of coffee or baked good. If you’d like to visit with the adoptable cats, you have the Kitten Room and Adult Room, both a clean, playful room, separate from the main space, filled with benches, cat toys, and colorful blankets, to spend time in. To visit the Cat Lounge guests will be required to pay a fee between $3-$7 based on how long you’d like to visit. These Cat Lounge fees go directly to Wayward Animal Rescue and allow them to continue to care for the cats. There are also a few rules when visiting the Cat Lounge including, have FUN!, signing a waiver, removing shoes, sanitizing hands, not picking up, yelling at or throwing objects at the cats, not feeding the cats, not using flash photography (regular photos are okay and encourage to be shared on social media) and not letting the cats out of the lounge area.
Most of the cats and kittens will be available for adoption through Wayward Animal Rescue (Wayward Whiskers) and all will be spayed/neutered, vaccinated, wormed, flea treated, and microchipped. There will be few ‘resident’ cats that will be there to help new cats that are coming into the cafe to transition. Wayward Whiskers is comprised of a group of passionate caring volunteers who are dedicated to rescuing lost, abandoned, abused, neglected or unwanted cats and kittens. Though they don’t have a physical shelter, they have a network of fosters in the Greensburg area. They’ve found homes for over 400 cats and kittens and spayed/neutered over 600 since their opening in 2015.
Cattfeinated is a wonderful community spot that will showcase local artists, currently Alexis Dillon’s photos are displayed for purchase, as well as local items for sale in the Cat-ique, where you’ll find collars, cat related items and cat themed gifts. They hope to be able to rent out some of their space for organizations looking to have small events or meetings. Starting in the next couple of weeks you’ll be able to book times in the Cat Lounge in advance to visit with the available cats.
Cattfeinated Cafe Cafe is open Monday, Tuesday from 9am-7pm, Thursday and Friday from 11am-7pm, Saturdays from 11am-5pm and Sundays from 12pm-6pm.
