Get closer to each other with a little dancing
Even if you don’t know how to ballroom dance, there are plenty of classes at Western Pennsylvania’s #1 Ballroom Dance Studio where you can learn a wide range of dances. A few choices include: Ballroom Tango, Cha Cha, Mambo, Salsa, Argentine Tango, Waltz and much more. You and your partner can improve your relationship, increase self-confidence, relieve stress as well as meet and make new friends! View their calendar here to learn more about upcoming happenings.
Join TDI for their Dance Socials! You and your significant other can spend the evening learning new dance moves, enjoying yourselves and having fun. TDI will provide refreshments, but the socials are BYOB! In addition to socials and lessons, there are two special events happening this summer. On Saturday, June 23 TDI will be hosting a Learn Salsa & Bachata Club Dance Special. During this two hour lesson, couples will learn the basics of Salsa and Bachata. The cost is $35 a couple and refreshments are included. Celebrate with TDI during their 6th annual Great Gatsby Dance with a Flapper Dress & Black Tie Event. The BYOB event will be held on Saturday, August 18 from 7:30pm – 10:30 pm. Enjoy a fun-filled night out for only $15!
Get to know each other in line for ice cream at The Meadows Frozen Custard
When the sun’s out and summer arrives, you better believe there’ll be a line at this ice cream hot spot. Reopening after being closed for a year from a fire, The Meadows Frozen Custard is totally worth waiting in line for a taste of delicious custard treats like the dirty turtle, apple dumpling, or one of their famous flavors that change daily. The line gives you plenty of time to decide what you’re going to get and to get to know each other!
Explore Greensburg’s emerging art scene with a stroll though the city
Art is popping up throughout downtown Greensburg and a stroll through the city with your favorite person by your side is a perfect date idea! Visit over a dozen sites with reproductions of American art from The Westmoreland Museum of American Art installed on buildings. Make sure to stop by Art in the Alley, a installation project from the Westmoreland Cultural Trust and the Arts Incubator, located in the alley next to the Palace Theatre. Heading to happy hour after your walk and looking to switch it up? The Westmoreland Museum of American Art hosts their Art on Tap happy hour event on the second Friday of every month. Enjoy drinks, snacks, a scavenger hunt and enjoy featured pieces of art.
Get cozy and enjoy SummerSounds outdoor concerts
Bring your own blanket, a picnic basket filled with goodies, some delicious beverages and prepare to cozy up while listening to up and coming artists in St. Clair Park. Make your way every Friday at 7pm during June, July and August for SummerSounds free outdoor concerts, with performances by Amanda Anne Platt and The Honeycutteres, Ona, Donna the Buffalo and more! Check out the entire summer concert line up and learn more about the Friends of SummerSounds.
Ditch dinner and head to a brewery
There are more breweries and taprooms opening in our area and it’s the perfect date night idea. Ditch the dinner no one wants to sit through anyway and do something you actually enjoy. Go to a brewery. Enjoy live music, craft beer and grab something to eat at the food truck (changes nightly) during Acoustic Thursday’s at All Saints Brewing Company. Stop by another favorite, Yellow Bridge Brewing Company, only a quick drive away, for their popular brews, can releases, food truck options and live music nights!
Get a little physical with a ride along the 5 Star Trail
Did we mention how convenient bicycles are? Without having to worry about parking or driving, you can turn date night into a Greensburg culinary tour. Stop by Flat Tire Co. Bike Shop to rent a bike and then head out for appetizers at Headkeeper Tapas Bar before cruising on over to The Olde Spitfire Grille for dinner out on their patio. Work up an appetite for dessert by biking across town to The White Rabbit Cafe and Patisserie for a homemade cookie or piece cheesecake. If you still have room left at the end of your foodie bike tour, finish the evening off with a nightcap at Oliver’s Pourhouse or Hugo’s Taproom.
Hikes make for a killer date
In today’s smartphone era, it can be challenging to find dating opportunities that allow a couple to unplug, connect with great conversation, and share a memorable challenge. Get active at Twin Lakes Park and hike around the park or give the old horse trails a try! Take a look at the park map to find the perfect spot along the trails and end your hike with a light meal by packing a picnic basket. There are several park amenities, (paddle boating!) that can be included in your date!
Be adventurous and learn a new skill
Looking for an adventurous first date idea? Take that special someone to Valhalla Indoor Axe Throwing and break the ice with some fun. Axe Throwing is a great date idea. It’s a place to be interactive with one another, where you can actually speak and get to know one another while learning a cool new skill. (yes we know Valhalla is not in Greensburg, but it’s a cool place to visit and it’s close!)
Forget mini-golf, the driving range is where it’s at
Snag a growler or a 6 pack and swing by Har-Tee’s Driving Range to hit some balls. All it takes is for your date to hit one awesome shot and they’ll be on cloud 9 – you’ll have a successful date. 100 balls between you will take about 40 minutes to bash out. Take it slow to enjoy some conversation and laughs between hits (there’ll definitely be some terrible shots that you’ll both do that you can giggle over).
