The Greensburg Night Market has set the dates for their 5th season and has opened applications for vendors, non profits and bands to apply.
The Greensburg Night Market will be hosted on 4 blocks of South Pennsylvania Avenue in downtown Greensburg from 5:30-9pm on April 27, May 25, June 22, July 27, August 31, September 28, October 26, November 15 and December 14. Two smaller holiday afternoon markets are scheduled for November 26 and December 17 from 12-4pm.
For the 2023 season, 115 vendors will line the street including farmers, artists, crafters, food producers, food trucks and everything in between. Last year, food trucks were added to the markets for the first time and that will continue for this season in a designated location.
“We are so excited for this year,” said Jessica Hickey, director of the Greensburg Night Market and the Downtown Greensburg Project. “We kinda called last season a transitional one with the changes we made during it. It’s helped us figure out ways to use the space in a better way for this coming year. We have some really great ideas to enhance the experience for our vendors and attendees for 2023.”
With an average of 5000 attendees per market, over 55% were made up of people aged 25-44 and 23% were ages 45-64. Attendees were not just from the Greensburg area but also Pittsburgh, Uniontown and Washington, PA.
GNM recently surveyed attendees to find out more information about what they are looking for when they attend the market. Attendees spend an average of $60 at a market on vendors and 70% of surveyed attendees spent money at local shops, bars and restaurants.
Changes and additions to the market include more variety of vendors, increased amount of food and drink vendors, a food truck area with tables and chairs as well as a select number of assigned vendor spots.
“The market is definitely shifting to being a food and drink heavy event,” said Hickey. “All of our vendors do well but we know that people are coming to eat and drink, so we will be increasing the amount of ready to eat vendors as well as other prepared food vendors.”
Vendor applications are now open on the Greensburg Night Market website and will remain open until February 28 at 11:59pm. There is a separate application for non profit organizations interested in setting up and an application for bands and musicians to apply to perform at the markets.
For 2023, there are multiple vendor space options including a regular 10×10 space, an assigned 10×10 space, a double space and a food truck or trailer space. Vendors will be able to request a specific block they would like to be on if accepted as well as their vendor space type. These requests are taken into consideration during the approval and waitlist process but are not guaranteed.
“We are expecting about 300 applications this year,” said Hickey. “We’ve had a lot of growth over the last 4 years and we’re excited to bring back great vendors from previous years as well as welcome new and unique vendors.”
All vendors are required to have to proper permitting to sell for their type of products as well as liability insurance. Vendors are also required to make 75% of their products. No mlm, direct sales vendors or businesses just wanting an information table will be accepted. There is a non refundable $15 application and administration fee for vendors. Applying to the Greensburg Night Market does not guarantee that a vendor will be accepted.
Vendors will receive a confirmation email that their application has been submitted. Vendors are asked to check their spam and junk mail.
Applications will only be taken by the form on the GNM website. No applications will be taken by email, mail, phone, text or in person.
