What’s happening this week in Greensburg, August 19-25

Monday, August 19 

Stretch & Restore with Healing Sounds 

Join Red Brick Yoga for a class of yin yoga, restorative yoga breathwork and meditation. It’s designed to engage a parasympathetic response bringing balance to your mind and an overall embodiment of stillness and peace. This is a floor-based class with no standing postures. Sound Bath at The Space

Join Practice Makes Perfect at The Space for a relaxing sound bath with crystal bowls, Native American flutes, Tibetan steel bowls, tuning forks and voice. Wear comfortable clothing and bring a mat if you have one. The sound bath will start at 7:30 p.m. Cost is $15 and preregistration is strongly encouraged as spots fill up quickly. Learn more.

Tuesday, August 20 

Trivia Night at Oliver’s Pourhouse

Join Oliver’s Pourhouse every Tuesday for trivia night starting at 7 p.m. Round up a team of up to four people to compete in five rounds of free trivia! There will be prizes and bragging rights for the winning team. Learn more.

Scotch Doubles Pool Tournament 

Join the Mutual Fire Hall every Tuesday at 7 p.m. for Scotch Doubles Pool Tournament. These tournaments are for fun as this is not a league. Cost is $5 for entry, there are no sign ups and teams are randomly generated. Arrive before 6:45 p.m. to play (Doors open at 5 p.m.). Learn more.

Rise & Shine Yoga with Red Brick Yoga

Join Red Brick early every Wednesday either on Zoom or in-studio for a 45 minute morning flow starting at 6:15 a.m. You must be registered within a half hour of class starting. Evil Dead the Musical – Auditions 

The Greensburg Civic Theatre will be holding auditions in-person at the Greensburg Garden and Civic Center. Please prepare 16 to 32 bars of a rock and roll song in the style of the show. Readings will consist of cold readings selected from the show. Sign up for time slots here. Learn more.

August Drum Circle @ Green Beacon Gallery 

All are invited to join for a night of percussive jams! Bringing percussion instruments is encouraged but not required (many drums provided). All ages and skill levels are welcome; BYOB for drummers 21+; Starts at 7 p.m. and goes till 9 p.m. Admission is free, however, gallery donations are graciously accepted. Bingo Night at Mutual Fire Hall

Elvis Lives at The Palace Theatre

Greensburg Music Fest

Westmoreland Cultural Trust, Green Beacon Gallery and Band Together Pittsburgh are proud to present the 6th Annual Greensburg Music Fest! Starting at noon, the day will be filled with music, food trucks, live performances, vendors, and more across five stages and three locations. Learn more.

Art on Tap: Drag Night Out

Join resident drag queen Alora Chateaux and friends for a fun night of bingo, art, music and performances as they share their off-the-cuff critiques of works in the galleries. All Art on Tap events feature live music, entertainment, light bites, include one free drink and a cash bar. This event is 21+; Cost is $12 for members and $15 for non-members. Pups in the Pool at Veterans’ Memorial Pool

Let your doggo take an afternoon swim from noon to 2 p.m. Cost is $5 per dog and owners may swim with their dogs (only one human swimmer per dog). All dogs need to have proof of rabies vaccination prior to entry. Learn more.

William A. Karaffa: “A Perception of Out Perceptions” Exhibition – Opening Reception 

StopWatch Gallery & Studio is delighted to announce the opening of William Karaffa’s exhibition “A Perception of Our Perceptions.” The show features complex and dramatic figurative work in painting and drawing. Karaffa’s large-scale artworks present difficult subject matter from the perspective of a neutral observer, inviting the viewer to examine contentious issues from multiple angles.
