Story Time: Long May She Wave

History is made of stories – and what better way to introduce young children to the past than through picture books! Children, accompanied by an adult, are invited to an educational read-aloud session followed by a hands-on activity. Children may have heard the Star-Spangled Banner song, but do they know the story of the flag and the seamstresses who created it? “Long May She Wave: The True Story of Caroline Pickersgill and Her Star-Spangled Creation” by Kristen Fulton explores this fascinating history. This read-aloud is just in time for the anniversary of the Battle of Fort McHenry.
