This Saturday is going to filled with fun, laughter and memories at the Art Museum! The Westmoreland Museum of American Art is celebrating the new art exhibit by John Van Hamersveld “Era of Cool” by throwing a beach party!
Try your balance at the Surf Simulator, create sand art in the sand station, grab some friends for the selfie photo booth, enjoy beach tunes from Stage Right and settle in for a movie! Plenty of fun activities for the whole family!
The Exhibit and Beach party will be begin at 7:00pm and will include:
- Live Beach Tunes by Stage Right 7pm-8pm
- Sand Station 7pm-10pm
- Surf Simulator 7pm-9pm
- Surfin’ Selfie-Photo Booth 7pm-10pm
- Outdoor movie production of “Endless Summer” featured at dusk!
- A cash bar along with food vendors such as Barry’s Italian Ice and Smoker’s BBQ will also be joining the party from 7pm-10pm!
50 years ago artist john Van Hamersveld started is pop art career by creating the legendary “Endless Summer”film posted in 1966. John Van Hamersveld also created famous album covers for pop artist throughout the 1960’s and 1970’s. Some include covers for the Beatles Magical Mystery Tour, The Grateful Dead Skeletons in the Closet, the Rolling Stones Exile on Main Street, and concert posters for artists such as Jimi Hendrix, Cream, Bob Dylan and many others!
Stop by the “Era of Cool” exhibit and see what other posters, albums, and pieces of art that John Van Hamersveld has created. You might be surprised at what you might find!
