A new local activity for the kids this summer. Flat Tire Co. Bike Shop has spearheaded an Interscholastic Mountain Bike Team for our area, the Laurel Highlands Composite Mountain Bike Team.
The Laurel Highlands Composite Mountain Bike Team is open to students grades 6-12 who attend public, private, or homeschool in and around Westmoreland County. We currently recruiting children from Greensburg, Hempfield, Norwin, Latrobe, Penn Trafford, Mount Pleasant, Yough, and everywhere in between.
Official practices for the team will start this June on Tuesdays and Thursdays and races will start in July. Venues currently being considered include St. Vincent for skills practice Tuesday afternoons and Thursday at Laurel Mountain.
Children will need a helmet and a functional mountain bike. If you need help you can visit the team shop Flat Tire Co., located in downtown Greensburg Pa. They’ll be happy to help you set up your bike properly, discuss bike maintenance, and suspension set-up. Mention your participation on the team to unlock exclusive savings.
Scholarships and bicycles are available for the season for athletes in need.

Coaches to Leaders’ Summit, a weekend-long educational conference. Late March.
Pre-season events (Fun oriented events, bike maintenance, ice cream rides, skills) - SUMMER
Practice may begin on July 1st, generally 2–3 times per week
Coaches – WFA-MTB (Wilderness First Aid training)
Racers – Skill Clinics
