DV8 Espresso Bar and Gallery Under New Ownership
Located at 208 S Pennsylvania Ave right up from the post office, DV8 Espresso Bar and Gallery has been operating in Greensburg for over 20 years.
Kim and Patricia Elliott-Rentler originally bought the place in 2017, but recently decided to sell to long-time customer and life-long Greensburg resident, Zack Dreskler.
Dreskler graduated from IUP with a degree in Hospitality Management and worked in the kitchen as a sous chef for J. Corks from 2012-2017. He then managed Brasserie du Soleil until the restaurant closed due to the pandemic.
So what made the ex-chef with a degree in Hospitality want to purchase a coffee joint?
It started when he and his girlfriend would walk down the street from their place to get coffee over the pandemic. Before this, Dreskler claims that coffee was not a huge part of his life.
When asked why he chose to purchase the well-loved coffee shop that supports local artists and bands alike, Dreskler said he “always wanted to own a small hospitality business”, adding that “Greensburg is a great town with a good community of people and a huge amount of potential for small businesses.”
We’d have to agree!
What’s Coming?
Although DV8 may be under new management, Zack still plans to offer the same quality coffee, espresso, specialty espresso drinks, and cold brew, as well as a large selection of tea. They will also continue to carry baked goods from “quality-driven” local bakers.
The first addition/change Dreskler has planned for the place is to update the look of the inside. Possibly in order to make the atmosphere more conducive to the local live music and other art events, as he plans to bring them back.
Eventually, he says he’d like to renovate the space in the back into a small bakery kitchen. Here, Zack would be able to put his chef skills to use making house made bagels and specialty cream cheeses.
We can’t wait to check out DV8 and keep up with everything Zack has in store for the place!
