Dogtopia, Greensburg’s newest doggy daycare and boarding facility opens

At the Downtown Greensburg Project, we LOVE our furbabies.

That’s why when we are busy and need our fuzzy family members taken care of, only the best will do.

The newest doggy daycare and boarding facility, Dogtopia of Greensburg, located at 131 Donohoe Road, is hosting their soft opening March 7!

What is Dogtopia?

Dogtopia is the nation’s largest provider of dog daycare. They boast 185 locations across the U.S., with Greensburg being the newest!

Their modern, hands-on, backed-by-science approach to canine care is something that all pet owners can appreciate. All Dogtopia policies are veterinarian tested and developed by environmental biologists and canine behaviorists.

The Dogtopia Difference

Far from your standard kennel, the level of care provided at Dogtopia is made apparent as soon as you walk through the door. A monitor displaying live footage of dogs playing in one of the building’s three indoor playrooms sits in the corner of the lobby, and the area is clean and smells fresh, probably due to the advanced UV filtration HVAC system that purifies the air for humans and dogs alike.

After your dog and you part ways, they are escorted to an area where they are evaluated for a number of things such as sensitivity to touch and temperament. This evaluation helps to determine which one of the three playrooms your dog will move to.

The first room is the high-energy puppy room. The second is the ‘little guys’ room; for smaller, more mature dogs. And the third room is for older and more chill or anti-social dogs.

An outdoor play area is currently in the works of being finished and will be available for use in the coming weeks.

All of the playrooms are floored with a special compressed rubber that is proven to help aid in long-term joint health.

Safety First!

There’s no such thing as being too careful when it comes to our pets, and Dogtopia definitely gets that.

Their building is safety officer certified, and all staff members have extensive training. Training starts online before any staff member is allowed to be in a room with your dog while being accompanied by a fully trained member of the team. Before anyone is allowed to be in a room alone with your pup, they will have endured at least 100 hours of training.

The spa offers services such as nail trims, baths, ear cleanings, and teeth brushing. In order to ensure safety, all cleaning products used on your dog are completely edible. You know, since dogs like to lick everything.

Mealtime is done alone, and Dogtopia even gives your dog a collar so your’s does not get soiled during playtime.

Although Dogtopia is a nationwide franchise and this may put off some people due to a perceived lack of personability, owners Katie and Cherrie are local Greensburg residents and care deeply about each animal that enters their doors.

Because Dogtopia is such a large organization, they have resources available to them that most other dog daycare facilities would only dream of. A canine behaviorist is on call full-time at their headquarters in Arizona to answer any questions/concerns staff may have throughout the day regarding the animals.

Check out Dogtopia during their soft opening on March 7 and schedule a meet and greet for your pup!
